Members of the District of the Philippines support the victims of typhoon Bopha

In the beginning of December typhoon Bopha made landfall on the Philippines, and the region of Mindanao where the Marists Fathers of the district are working was hit severely. Winds of more than 260 km/h caused damage to buildings and crops and so far more than 1.000 people died. The Marist community together with other religious congregations and lay people recently went for a third time to give spiritual and moral support to the victims in Barangay Andap, New Bataan Compostela Valley. Activities such as the Eucharist, praying the Rosary, lighting of candles, writing of names of the deceased family members on a stone were highlighted to remember and pray for all the victims who perished in the flood. Relief goods were also given to the victims as well as food. The children too had their own activities such as drawing and games. It was good to see the young children beaming with smiles and joy while receiving their gifts and prizes.
